Job summary

Athena Hospitality Group is seeking a Chief Maintenance Engineer to oversee operation, maintenance and repair of hotel equipment across facilities. The role includes performing preventative maintenance, responding to equipment alarms, and coordinating with the Front Desk and other departments.

The ideal candidate will have hotel maintenance experience, a valid driver's license and flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for the applicable state.
  • Must have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Driving Record).
  • Must be willing and can work a varied schedule that may include evenings nights weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Change out light bulbs; perform preventative maintenance for guest rooms including vinyl repair, touch up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, tile repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guest rooms, meeting rooms, pool equipment and spa.
  • Perform plumbing repairs, laundry equipment repair, and preventative maintenance on exhaust fans and supply; monitor energy conservation; repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment on request.
  • Respond to alarms quickly to determine location and status, and report findings to the Front Desk.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • Clean exterior parking lot and remove trash; perform minor landscaping tasks as needed.
  • Assist housekeeping in maintaining public areas of the hotel; assist with guest transportation if shuttle is available.
  • Perform CORE program preventative maintenance tasks and document completed work; maintain stock of mechanical items.
  • Advise General Manager on equipment or supply needs and maintain the building.
  • Support breakfast area tasks as needed, including washing dishes, restocking supplies, sweeping and mopping floors.

Job description

The Chief Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting with the operation maintenance service and repair of equipment as assigned. He/she is also responsible for participating in the preventative maintenance program handling guest requests and other work orders as assigned. He/she is also responsible for performing the job in a safe and efficient manner and performing trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing etc. May require driving a shuttle van when needed (property specific).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Change out light bulbs; perform preventative maintenance for guest rooms to include vinyl repair touch up paint minor furniture repair tub caulking tile repairs etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for ice machines refrigerators kitchen equipment laundry equipment HVAC guest rooms meeting rooms the swimming pool and hot tub.
  • Perform plumbing repair laundry equipment repair preventative maintenance on all exhaust fans and supply; monitor energy conservation; repair vacuum cleaners and any other small equipment upon request.
  • Immediately follow up on any alarms to determine the exact location and cause - determine emergency status and report to the Front Desk with findings.
  • Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
  • Clean the exterior parking lot and remove trash from receptacles.
  • Perform minor landscaping tasks such as pulling weeds between lawn servicing dates.
  • Help the housekeeping department in maintaining public areas of the hotel.
  • Assist with guest transportation if property has shuttle service.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks as identified in the CORE program and record the work completed.
  • Maintain the needed stock of mechanical items needed to ensure work can be completed timely without delays.
  • Advise the General Manager of equipment or supplies needed and properly maintain the building.
  • Assist breakfast area in below tasks as needed:
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive friendly courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
  • Support all areas of the food service as necessary including washing dishes by hand and/or placing them in a dishwashing machine restocking dishes glassware utensils pots and pans or other necessary equipment sweeping and mopping floors washing work tables walls refrigerators and meat blocks moving trash and garbage to designated areas if requested.

Job Settings and Physical Demands:

To perform the job successfully, the candidate must be able to stand and walk 90% of their workday. Lifting and carrying up to 65 lbs. may be necessary at times and bending and stooping are required. Job is performed indoors in a well ventilated area.
