Job summary

Lincoln University invites applications for the position of Director of Libraries, serving as the academic and administrative leader of the Langston Hughes Memorial Library. The Director will plan and administer library services and report to the Provost/Dean of Faculty.

The role requires leading budgeting, external funding efforts, and collaboration across campus to advance the university’s mission and strategic plan, with an emphasis on diversity and scholarly support.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library or Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited program is required.
• Additional advanced degree is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of trends in library science and ability to evaluate emerging technologies.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication and management skills with evidence of collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Serves as chief library administrative officer and provides leadership to the Langston Hughes Memorial Library.
• Articulates a vision for the role of an academic library in the 21st century.
• Develops, implements, and assesses the library’s annual strategic operational plans.
• Manages budget allocations and advocates for the library and staff.
• Oversees electronic resources management, training, purchasing, and usage statistics.

Education

Master’s Degree in Library or Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited program
