Job summary

Agreus seeks a Chief Legal & Administrative Officer to build the Family Office's legal function from the ground up, advising the Principal and management while guiding administrative operations across governance, contracts, and regulatory matters. This role requires a JD with US Bar admission and 20+ years in‑house leadership, ideally with founder or UHNW experience.

High integrity, discretion, and hands‑on ownership are essential.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) required, with admission to a US State Bar.
• New York Bar admission preferred but not mandatory.
• 20+ years of progressive in‑house legal leadership experience.
• Experience advising founders, UHNW individuals or family principals.
• Proven ability to build legal function, infrastructure and governance from the ground up.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset and ownership.
• Ability to operate with autonomy in a fast‑moving, undefined landscape.
• Experience in a family office or private office environment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Family Office's legal function and serve as chief legal advisor.
• Determine matters to handle internally vs. with outside counsel and build processes.
• Develop relationships with outside counsel, advisors and service providers.
• Advise on legal risk related to strategic initiatives and major decisions.
• Oversee governance, entity management, policies and compliance frameworks.
• Coordinate with HR, finance and operations on cross‑functional matters.
• Support special projects and driving organizational initiatives.
• Handle highly confidential personal, professional and family affairs with discretion.
