Job summary

La Joya Independent School District seeks an Executive Director of Language & Literacy to lead literacy, biliteracy, ESL and migrant programs district-wide. The role drives curriculum alignment, structured literacy, and rigorous instruction to accelerate student outcomes.

The position reports to the Deputy Chief of Instructional Support & School Leadership and requires deep knowledge of the science of reading and bilingual education, with a focus on emergent bilingual student supports.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Bilingual Education, Literacy or related field.
• Texas teaching certificate required or eligible (bilingual preferred).
• Principal or Mid-Management certification preferred; T-TESS certification preferred.
• Experience improving literacy/biliteracy and multilingual programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead district-wide literacy and biliteracy initiatives with strong content knowledge.
• Ensure compliance with bilingual/ESL/migrant program requirements.
• Develop and monitor instructional systems and district-wide initiatives.
• Provide coaching and feedback to campus leaders and staff.

Education

Master’s degree in Education/Leadership

Texas principal/mid-management cert

Bilingual education preferred

Experience in literacy/biliteracy programs
