Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin, Red McCombs School of Business, seeks a Chief Information Officer to lead McCombs Technology Solutions. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean and COO, the CIO guides technology strategy, governance, operations, and innovation for a premier business school.

This senior leader will oversee architecture, data, security, classroom technology, and strategic partnerships within UT Austin’s federated tech environment, driving AI-enabled modernization and risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of progressively responsible information technology leadership experience.
• Experience leading a broad technology organization or portfolio.
• Experience with technology budgeting, vendor management, and major investments.
• Ability to advise senior executives and communicate complex issues to nontechnical audiences.
• Experience in cybersecurity, data management, and IT governance.
• Proven leadership of staff development and organizational planning.
• Experience with modernization/digital transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead McCombs Technology Solutions and set technology strategy and governance.
• Oversee technology operations, applications, data services, and classroom/AV tech.
• Drive modernization, AI adoption, and data governance with security/compliance.
• Partner with UT Austin teams (Enterprise Tech, OIT) on strategic initiatives.
• Manage budgets, licensing, procurement, and vendor relationships.
