Brief Summary

Title: Chief Information Officer

You’ll Report To: President

We are seeking a strategic and forward‑thinking Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead our enterprise technology, data, and innovation strategy. Based at our corporate headquarters in Tampa, the CIO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and will be responsible for ensuring our technology capabilities support the Company’s continued growth, operational excellence, and long‑term strategy.

The CIO will lead both our Information Technology and Data & Innovation organizations, with responsibility for Application Development, IT Operations, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Project Management/Special Projects, and strategic technology vendor partnerships.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished technology executive to have a significant impact on a growing, publicly traded property and casualty insurance company. We are looking for a leader who can see beyond technology itself—someone who understands how technology, data, analytics, and innovation can transform the way a business operates and create measurable value.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and execute the Company’s enterprise technology, data, and innovation strategy in alignment with our business and growth objectives.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on technology, data, cybersecurity, emerging technology, enterprise transformation, and technology-related risk.
  • Lead and develop high‑performing teams across Application Development, IT Operations, Business Intelligence, Special Projects/Enterprise Project Management, and vendor management.
  • Establish a multi‑year technology roadmap that balances modernization and innovation with operational stability, cybersecurity, regulatory requirements, and financial discipline.
  • Partner with business leaders across Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, Distribution, and other functions to identify opportunities to improve business performance through technology, data, analytics, automation, and process improvement.
  • Oversee the development, integration, performance, security, and reliability of the Company’s applications, infrastructure, cloud environments, and other critical technology platforms.
  • Advance the Company’s enterprise data and Business Intelligence capabilities, providing leaders with timely, accurate, and actionable information.
  • Drive thoughtful adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation, while establishing appropriate governance and risk controls.
  • Provide executive oversight of significant enterprise projects, establishing clear priorities, accountability, resource allocation, milestones, and measures of success.
  • Oversee strategic technology vendors and third‑party relationships, ensuring strong performance, appropriate risk management, and value from the Company’s technology investments.
  • Maintain executive accountability for technology controls supporting the Company’s SOX compliance program, including appropriate IT General Controls.
  • Ensure appropriate technology resilience, disaster recovery, business continuity, cybersecurity, and incident‑response capabilities.
  • Manage technology budgets, investments, and resources with a focus on business value, scalability, and responsible expense management.
  • Regularly communicate technology strategy, performance, significant investments, cybersecurity matters, and technology risks to executive leadership.
What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate

The ideal candidate will bring significant progressive technology leadership experience, including senior or executive‑level responsibility for a complex technology organization.

You should also bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise technology strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Leadership experience across multiple technology disciplines, including application development and IT operations/infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with enterprise data, Business Intelligence, analytics, and data governance.
  • Experience leading significant enterprise projects, technology transformations, or project portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, technology risk, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience managing significant technology investments, budgets, vendors, and strategic partnerships.
  • Experience with SOX, IT General Controls, public‑company governance, and internal and external audit processes strongly preferred.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence, automation, or other emerging technologies strongly preferred.
  • Property and casualty insurance experience strongly preferred; broader insurance or financial services experience will also be considered.
  • Experience communicating technology strategy, cybersecurity, risk, or major initiatives to executive leadership.

We are looking for an enterprise leader first and a technology leader second.

Our CIO must be able to understand the business, challenge conventional thinking, translate complex technology issues into business terms, and build strong partnerships across the organization. You’ll need the judgment to balance innovation and speed with security, reliability, cost, regulatory requirements, and appropriate controls.

Just as importantly, you’ll be expected to build and develop strong teams, establish clear accountability, and create an environment where people can innovate, solve problems, and deliver results.

This role offers the opportunity to shape not only our technology organization, but how we use technology, data, analytics, and innovation to drive the future of our business.
