Job summary

The City of New York seeks a Policy Director within the Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants (MOPT), overseeing housing policy initiatives, tenant protections, and interagency coordination. You will lead strategic policy development, manage Policy Advisors, and maintain high-level relationships with stakeholders across NYC housing and tenant protection sectors.

You will prepare briefing materials for senior leadership, align initiatives with city priorities, and supervise staff to deliver results

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in housing policy, government, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize complex information.

Responsibilities

• Lead Policy & Strategy initiatives and develop MOPT policies and programs.
• Oversee cross-agency tenant protection initiatives from concept through implementation.
• Coordinate with City agencies, external partners, and community stakeholders to advance policy initiatives.
• Prepare presentations, memos, and reports for internal and external audiences.
• Track budget requirements for policy initiatives and align with mayoral priorities.
