Job summary

Day & Zimmermann Company is seeking an experienced Fire Chief to lead the Fire and Emergency Services at the Hawthorne Army Depot in Hawthorne, NV. You will oversee fire protection, EMS, hazmat, rescue, and readiness, directing captains, firefighters, EMTs, and other personnel, with authority over hiring and performance management.

This on-site role requires security clearance and U.S. citizenship; it offers a comprehensive benefits package and salary commensurate with experience and duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Science or related field; Nevada DoD Fire Officer I and II certification required.
• 5+ years firefighting experience, including at least 2 years supervisory in Hawthorne Army Depot.
• NIMS 300 and NIMS 400 certifications required; Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector I may be added later.
• Valid Nevada Class B CDL with 'F' endorsement; ability to obtain security clearance.
• Must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and perform leadership duties safely.

Responsibilities

• Lead Fire and Emergency Services operations for fires, EMS, hazmat, rescue and disaster response.
• Plan and coordinate fire prevention, inspection, training, emergency response and readiness programs.
• Manage personnel: assign, schedule, train, evaluate, discipline and employment decisions.
• Develop and manage branch budgets, reports, records, and cost-control processes.
• Advise depot management on fire protection and readiness; review goals and performance.
• Coordinate with officials and stakeholders to support joint response readiness and reviews.
