Description
San Diego, CA | Hybrid | Executive Leadership Team
At Verve, we’re looking for a CFO who doesn’t believe executive leadership means getting further away from the numbers.
This is a unique opportunity for a strategic, hands-on financial leader who thrives in a lean, entrepreneurial, private equity-backed environment. You’ll partner directly with our CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and Private Equity stakeholders — while remaining close enough to the business to personally dig into the models, forecasts, cash flow, and financial drivers behind the decisions. If you love strategy but still love Excel, keep reading.
As Verve’s CFO, you’ll lead the financial strategy and operations of the company while helping shape our next chapter of growth and value creation.
You’ll be our senior financial thought partner — bringing clarity to complexity, challenging assumptions, identifying opportunities, protecting liquidity, and helping us make smarter decisions.
But here’s what makes this role different:
You won’t have a large FP&A organization underneath you. In fact, you’ll serve as Verve’s sole FP&A resource, personally owning and executing budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, analysis, and reporting while supporting department leaders as they develop and manage their own budgets.
One day you may be presenting financial insights to the Board. The next, you may be building a scenario model, analyzing a variance, working through a debt covenant, or helping a department leader understand the economics behind a decision. If that sounds energizing rather than intimidating, we should talk.
You’ll have a broad seat at the table, with responsibility spanning:
We’re looking for someone who can move comfortably between big-picture strategy and detailed execution.
You may be a great fit if you:
You’re comfortable advising a CEO in the morning and opening the financial model yourself that afternoon. You ask good questions, challenge assumptions constructively, and know when the numbers are telling you there’s more to the story.
You’re also energized by an organization where there is still an opportunity to build, improve, simplify, and scale — rather than simply inherit mature processes and a large finance infrastructure.
And just as importantly, how you lead matters here. We value collaboration, transparency, accountability, strong relationships, and leaders who balance financial performance with the impact their decisions have on people and the long‑term health of the business.
We’re particularly interested in candidates with:
Because we believe great companies can deliver strong business results without losing sight of people and relationships.
At Verve, our values aren't wall art. They influence how we lead, how we make decisions, how we serve our clients, and how we treat one another.
For the right CFO, this is an opportunity to have meaningful influence — not only over the numbers, but over the future of the business.
You’ll have direct access to decision-makers, visibility across the organization, and the opportunity to help build the financial discipline, insights, and infrastructure that support Verve’s next stage.
If you’re looking for a CFO role where you can lead the strategy, influence the business, and still roll up your sleeves and do the work, we’d love to meet you.
