Job description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with strong experience in high-volume, full-service or fast-casual restaurant operations. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, overseeing all financial functions and driving initiatives that support long-term growth, operational efficiency, and profitability. The CFO will be based in our Portland, Maine headquarters and play a critical role in scaling the financial infrastructure of our multi-unit restaurant group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational performance.
  • Oversee accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the company, including growth initiatives and capital investments.
  • Collaborate with operations leaders to analyze restaurant performance, drive margin improvements, and optimize labor and food costs.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and track KPIs to monitor unit economics and support data-driven decision-making across locations.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions, auditors, tax advisors, and other external partners.
  • Direct financial due diligence and integration efforts for new unit openings or acquisitions.
  • Evaluate risk management strategies, including insurance coverage and financial contingencies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA and/or CPA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with 5+ years in a high-volume, full-service or fast-casual restaurant environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the financial function of a multi-unit restaurant group or hospitality organization.
  • Expertise in restaurant P&L management, labor and prime cost control, and operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with restaurant accounting platforms (e.g., Restaurant365, Compeat, QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with an ability to turn complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, collaborate across departments, and drive results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • High integrity, excellent communication skills, and a proactive leadership style.
