Job summary

Great Plains Federal Credit Union is seeking a strategic CFO to guide financial planning and governance in Joplin, MO. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and reporting while shaping a forward-looking financial strategy in a community-focused credit union.

With responsibility for ALCO leadership and capital management, you will partner with the CEO and leadership team to optimize balance sheets, pricing, and risk controls in a dynamic market environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates should have strong financial leadership experience including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• GEaring toward CECL implementation and risk management is valued.
• Experience in financial institutions and regulatory reporting is preferred.

Great Plains Federal Credit Union is entering an exciting period of intentional repositioning and growth, and we are looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who wants to help shape what comes next.

This is a newly established executive role and an opportunity for a strategic, forward-thinking financial leader to make a meaningful impact. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, the CFO will strengthen the credit union's financial foundation while bringing insight, analysis, and thoughtful financial strategy to decisions that will shape its future.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Great Plains is open to both an experienced CFO and a high-potential senior financial leader ready to take the next step in their career.

A minimum of five years of relevant financial leadership experience is preferred. However, we may consider a candidate with at least three years of strong financial institution experience if they demonstrate the strategic capability, technical foundation, leadership potential, and business judgment to succeed in the role.

The successful candidate will bring experience or demonstrated capability in several of the following areas:

• Investment management and strategy
• Asset/liability and balance-sheet management
• Financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting
• CECL
• Interest rate risk
• Loan and deposit pricing/rate-setting
• Financial reporting and internal controls
• Regulatory reporting and financial institution examinations
• ALCO leadership or participation
• Strategic financial analysis and decision support
• Team leadership and development

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or a related discipline is preferred. CPA or another relevant professional designation is valued but is not required. Great Plains recognizes that experience, financial acumen, leadership ability, and demonstrated results can be equally meaningful indicators of a candidate’s ability to succeed.
