Great Plains Federal Credit Union is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy and strengthen the organization's financial foundation. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, the CFO will shape decisions with insight, analysis, and forward-looking financial planning.
The role emphasizes strategic capability, governance, and leadership within a community-focused credit union, with the opportunity to influence growth and service delivery for members across the region.
Great Plains Federal Credit Union is entering an exciting period of intentional repositioning and growth, and we are looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who wants to help shape what comes next.
This is a newly established executive role and an opportunity for a strategic, forward-thinking financial leader to make a meaningful impact. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, the CFO will strengthen the credit union's financial foundation while bringing insight, analysis, and thoughtful financial strategy to decisions that will shape its future.
Great Plains is equally proud of how it serves. Rooted in the credit union philosophy of “people helping people,” the organization believes financial success and community impact go hand in hand. Its recent designation as a Low-Income Credit Union further supports its commitment to expanding access, serving its communities, and creating opportunities for the members and markets that rely on Great Plains.
Great Plains is open to both an experienced CFO and a high-potential senior financial leader ready to take the next step in their career.
A minimum of five years of relevant financial leadership experience is preferred. However, we may consider a candidate with at least three years of strong financial institution experience if they demonstrate the strategic capability, technical foundation, leadership potential, and business judgment to succeed in the role.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or a related discipline is preferred. CPA or another relevant professional designation is valued but is not required. Great Plains recognizes that experience, financial acumen, leadership ability, and demonstrated results can be equally meaningful indicators of a candidate’s ability to succeed.
The right CFO will be more than technically strong. This individual will be curious, collaborative, practical, and forward-looking; someone who can move comfortably between detailed financial analysis and broader strategic conversations.
Most importantly, you should be energized by the opportunity to build, influence, and contribute during an important period in Great Plains Federal Credit Union’s evolution.
This is an opportunity to join a credit union with a strong commitment to its members, employees, and communities while helping establish the financial strategy for its next stage.
For the right leader, the appeal is significant: a newly created executive role, direct influence on organizational strategy, an opportunity to strengthen and shape the finance function, and the ability to help position a community-focused credit union for sustainable growth.
If you are a financial leader ready to have a voice at the table and help build what comes next, we invite you to explore the Chief Financial Officer opportunity with Great Plains Federal Credit Union in Joplin, Missouri.
