Job summary

Sharpe Engineering is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to lead financial health, risk management, and project profitability. You will own accounting, revenue recognition, reporting, cash flow, banking relationships, insurance, and risk; and guide the finance team.

You will partner with the President and Board, oversee budgeting and forecasting, and drive acquisition activity while integrating financial processes across functions. A hands-on executive role in a growing firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Admin required; CPA/MBA preferred.
• 10+ years in accounting/finance with 5+ years in senior leadership.
• Finance leadership in a project-based business (engineering, construction, or capital equipment).
• Hands-on ASC 606 project revenue recognition, including percentage-of-completion, WIP, and job costing.
• Experience managing banking relationships, audits, insurance, and Board reporting.
• Hands-on acquisition experience: valuation, due diligence, deal financing, and post-close integration.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and control all financial activities and develop the accounting team.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements; present to leadership and the Board.
• Lead annual budget and rolling forecast; monitor performance against plan.
• Shape and execute acquisition strategy; lead due diligence and integration.
• Own ASC 606 revenue recognition, WIP, and gross margin reporting by project.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, collections, payables, and banking relationships.
• Maintain internal controls, GAAP compliance, and BOS/SOP documentation.
• Provide financial input to S&OP and cross-functional partners.
