Job summary

Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity seeks a Chief External Relations Officer to lead fundraising, marketing, communications, and government affairs. You will serve on the executive leadership team and help shape external strategy across Northeast Ohio.

You’ll cultivate donor relationships, expand partnerships, and advance the organization’s mission through integrated campaigns, events, and advocacy. A collaborative, strategic leader is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of external-facing leadership-level experience, including development, fundraising, marketing, public relations, government affairs, strategic planning and communications, and community engagement.
• Minimum of three (3) years of strong management and/or team leadership experience, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary action.
• Experience in a nonprofit setting is preferred.
• Proven ability to develop strategic multiyear strategies and build consensus among stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead external communications, partnerships, policy advocacy, and fundraising to boost visibility and impact.
• Collaborate with the executive team to align external efforts with strategic objectives.
• Develop and implement a donor-centered fundraising model to grow giving from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
• Oversee special events, government affairs, community engagement, and gift-in-kind partnerships.
• Represent the organization at public meetings, conferences, and stakeholder events.
• Supervise and mentor the development, marketing, events, and volunteer teams; ensure objectives are met.
