Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in public affairs, communications, or external relations in a nascent or high-stakes industry.
  • Proven track record of scaling a communications function and shaping public understanding of a new technology.
  • Experience managing communications through regulatory scrutiny or fast-moving media.
  • Experience as a primary media spokesperson or executive communications advisor.
  • Ability to write and edit across formats at a high level.

Responsibilities

  • Translate Zap's scientific and strategic vision into a compelling narrative for policymakers and the public.
  • Own Zap's overarching narrative and ensure consistency across external touchpoints.
  • Lead executive communications, congressional testimony, op-eds, and white papers.
  • Develop government affairs strategy and build relationships with Congress and regulators.
  • Partner with lobbying firms to influence legislation and funding.
  • Oversee publishing, media relations, and thought leadership.
  • Support pursuit of federal funding opportunities.
  • Build coalitions to strengthen public support for advanced nuclear technologies.
