Zap Energy Inc. is seeking a Senior leader to steer Public Affairs and Government Affairs, shaping energy policy and public perception.

The VP will guide communications, policy engagement, and executive visibility across federal, state, and industry forums. You will lead a growing team, manage lobbying partners, and coordinate with leadership to position Zap as a trusted voice on advanced nuclear energy and national security policy.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years in public affairs or external relations in nascent/high-stakes industries.
  • Proven ability to scale a communications function and shape public understanding of new tech.
  • Experience as a primary media spokesperson or executive communications advisor.
  • Ability to write/edit across formats from executive voice to technical translation.

Responsibilities

  • Translate scientific vision into compelling public narratives for policymakers, customers, investors, and the public.
  • Lead executive communications, congressional testimony, op-eds, white papers, and thought leadership.
  • Develop and execute Zap's government affairs strategy across federal to local levels.
  • Build relationships with Congress, agencies, regulators, labs, and local governments.
  • Oversee external agencies and lobbying partners to advance strategic objectives.
  • Define messaging architecture and ensure alignment across departments.
  • Prepare executives for hearings, media interviews, and investor engagements.
  • Define the category of the integrated nuclear company and lead external engagement.
