Compensation: Deferred from Day 1 + Equity

About Our Client

Our client is an early-stage health technology venture developing breakthrough, non-drug approaches to enhance sleep, mood, and cognitive performance through sophisticated light and sound stimulation. Backed by strong intellectual property and validated early-stage research, the company is entering a pivotal growth phase focused on clinical studies, regulatory strategy, and preparing for commercial launch.

They are seeking a CEO whose primary strength and responsibility is fundraising and who brings an active network of investors capable of supporting a cutting-edge deep-tech venture.

Role Overview

The CEO will lead the company’s capital strategy, investor engagement, and fundraising execution, while guiding overall strategic direction and high-level business development. This role is ideal for an entrepreneurially minded leader who excels in early-stage environments, has a strong investor network, and is energized by building in a capital-constrained but high-potential setting.

This is a deferred-compensation role from day one, with equity participation and future compensation tied to successful fundraising milestones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all fundraising efforts (pre-seed, seed, Series A), including outreach, pitch development, investor meetings, and deal closure.
  • Leverage an active network of investors (angel, VC, family office, strategic) to accelerate capital raises.
  • Develop and execute a capital strategy aligned with R&D, regulatory, and commercialization goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective investors.
  • Pursue non-dilutive funding such as grants, research partnerships, and government programs.
Strategic Leadership & Vision
  • Define the company’s strategic direction and prioritize initiatives that match investor expectations and market opportunity.
  • Shape the go-to-market and regulatory pathways in collaboration with scientific, engineering, and clinical advisors.
  • Serve as the external face of the organization across investor, partner, and industry engagements.
Business Development & Partnerships
  • Develop strategic relationships to support research collaboration, licensing, distribution, or co-development opportunities.
  • Negotiate and execute partnerships that accelerate commercial readiness.
Organizational Leadership
  • Build and scale a high-impact team capable of executing on technology, regulatory, and business objectives.
  • Establish foundational processes for finance, operations, regulatory, and quality systems.
Candidate Profile
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Proven fundraiser with a track record of raising capital for early-stage startups (ideally in med-tech, neurotech, deep-tech, or health innovation).
  • Active investor network with direct relationships that can be leveraged immediately.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills to translate complex science into compelling investor narratives.
  • Demonstrated success leading or helping lead a startup through capital formation stages.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, fast-paced environments, and deferred-compensation structures.
  • Ability to build trust, maintain momentum, and close investment rounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with neuroscience, neuromodulation, medical devices, digital therapeutics, or human performance technologies.
  • Experience with FDA or international regulatory pathways.
  • Prior experience commercializing early-stage technology or securing strategic partnerships.
  • Background in academic, clinical, or government-funded research programs.
