The client is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to provide strategic, operational, and external leadership for a fully virtual, nationally distributed nonprofit focused on advancing professional practice in health and physical education, physical activity, dance, and sport. The CEO will serve as the senior staff leader and public face, lead a professional staff team, oversee financial and operational performance, and build strategic partnerships across education, public health, government, philanthropy, and the private sector. The role will align with a Board-approved 2026–2029 Strategic Direction organized around Advocacy, Community, Knowledge & Practice, and Sustainability.

The client expects the CEO to provide strategic leadership and governance by partnering with the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors to establish and implement long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies. The CEO will maintain transparent, timely communication with the Board and Executive Committee, attend Executive Committee meetings, and provide regular Board reporting. The position also includes implementing Board-approved programmatic and operational initiatives and recommending new initiatives that advance the organization’s mission and strategic goals.

The client also requires strong external representation and advocacy, including serving as chief spokesperson to members and partner organizations, representing the organization with government agencies and the media, and advocating for professional positions in a dynamic policy environment with sound judgement. In addition, the CEO will develop and maintain relationships with government and international agencies and aligned partners, and position The client as a leading national voice for health and physical education. Financial management responsibilities include overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and long-term organizational sustainability, preparing and overseeing the annual budget, and supporting forward‑looking financial planning, including efforts to diversify and grow revenue through partnerships.
