We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Estimator to lead our estimating department in commercial roofing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the bid process, developing accurate cost estimates, and ensuring the company remains competitive while maintaining profitability. This role requires extensive knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials, labor costs, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead and mentor a team of estimators, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in bid preparation.
• Develop and implement estimating procedures to streamline processes.
• Collaborate with sales, project management, and operations teams to ensure smooth project execution.

Estimating & Preconstruction:

• Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to prepare precise cost estimates.
• Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs to develop accurate pricing strategies.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals, including scope, pricing breakdowns, and schedules.
• Manage the bid calendar and ensure timely submission of proposals.
• Oversee subcontractor and supplier pricing, ensuring competitive and accurate quotes.

Risk Management & Quality Control:

• Identify potential risks in projects and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
• Verify accuracy of final estimates before submission.

Client & Vendor Relations:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
• Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure the best pricing and terms.

Technology & Continuous Improvement:

• Utilize estimating software (e.g., Edge, Bluebeam, or On-Screen Takeoff) to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and emerging technologies.
• Continuously improve estimating processes and methodologies to increase win rates.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in commercial roofing estimating.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
• Experience working for a commercial roofing contractor in a senior estimating role.
• Strong knowledge of roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, built-up, modified bitumen, metal, etc.).
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
• Familiarity with contract terms, insurance, and bonding requirements.
