Job summary

CCL Global seeks a Chief Estimator to lead the estimating department for site development and civil infrastructure projects in the Phoenix area. The role requires 8+ years of estimating experience with emphasis on grading, earthwork, utilities, and underground wet utilities.

The Chief Estimator will mentor junior staff, establish best practices, and drive accurate, competitive bids while coordinating with operations and project teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of estimating experience in civil construction.
• Site development experience including grading and earthwork.
• Underground wet utilities including water line, storm drainage, and sanitary sewer.
• Lead estimating teams, mentor junior estimators, manage multiple pursuits.
• Proven ability delivering accurate, competitive estimates for heavy civil projects.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing all preconstruction and estimating activities.
• Developing accurate and competitive bids.
• Reviewing plans and specifications in relation to site development and utilities.
• Training and managing a team of estimators and takeoff technicians.
• Managing quantity takeoffs.
• Evaluating subcontractor and vendor pricing, while collaborating with operations.
• Lead strategic bid reviews, identify project risks and value engineering opportunities.

Job description

We are seeking a Chief Estimator to lead our estimating department for our site development and civil infrastructure projects throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of estimating experience with a strong background in site development, including grading, earthwork, and excavation, as well as underground wet utilities (water line installation, storm drainage systems, and sanitary sewer construction.

As a natural leader and mentor, the Chief Estimator will provide guidance and professional development to junior estimators, establish estimating best practices, and foster a collaborative, high-performing estimating team.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing all preconstruction and estimating activities
• Developing accurate and competitive bids
• Reviewing plans and specifications in relation to site development and utilities
• Training and managing a team of estimators and takeoff technicians
• Managing quantity takeoffs
• Evaluating subcontractor and vendor pricing, while collaborating with operations
• Lead strategic bid reviews, identify project risks and value engineering opportunities

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of estimating experience within civil construction
• Experience with site development, including grading and earthwork projects
• Strong estimating background in underground wet utilities, including water, storm drainage, and sanitary sewer installation
• Expert-level proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid and other HCSS estimating software (required)
• Proven ability to lead estimating teams, mentor junior estimators, and manage multiple concurrent pursuits
• Demonstrated success delivering accurate, competitive estimates for public and private heavy civil projects
