Job summary

APM Terminals Head of Environmental role in Los Angeles, CA, leads environmental strategy and regulatory compliance for Pier 400. You partner with leadership, regulators, customers and external stakeholders to reduce emissions and drive sustainability at scale.

The role oversees ISO 14001, budgets, incident response, and team development, aligning with Maersk's long-term sustainability goals and continuous improvement culture.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of leadership in environmental performance with regulators and customers.
• Four-year degree; master's or environmental certifications are a plus.
• Ability to develop strategy, assess risk and implement mitigations.
• Agile and collaborative, able to work across teams and boundaries.
• Broad ISO14001/environmental compliance experience in a large operation.
• Lean mindset and continuous improvement oriented.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the terminal's environmental strategy in line with objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Act as the principal environmental advisor to senior leadership.
• Lead ISO 14001 EMS and ensure compliance with federal, state, local and LA requirements.
• Drive emissions reduction, waste minimization, and decarbonization with cross-functional teams.
• Build relationships with regulators, customers and communities; represent at inspections and permitting.
• Manage departmental budgets and oversee environmental consultants.
• Lead incident response, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Coach and develop the Environmental team and succession planning.
