Job summary

Kiawah Island Golf Resort seeks a Chief Engineer to lead hotel maintenance, ensuring safety, reliability, and guest satisfaction across rooms, facilities, and amenities. You will supervise engineers, implement preventive programs, and coordinate with contractors to uphold high standards of appearance and functionality.

The role emphasizes budget control, safety compliance, and cross‑department collaboration to optimize operations and guest experiences at our luxury property in South Carolina.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in hotel or hospitality maintenance management.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and track departmental performance metrics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with hotel CMMS or maintenance software preferred.
• Technical certifications or degree in facilities management, engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all maintenance operations within the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, pools, fitness centers, and HVAC systems.
• Lead, train, and supervise maintenance staff, ensuring high performance, accountability, and professional development.
• Plan and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment and facilities.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to ensure minimal disruption to guests and hotel operations.
• Inspect facilities regularly to identify and correct safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or appearance issues.
• Manage maintenance budgets, inventory of tools, supplies, and replacement parts.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, fire codes, and hotel standards.
• Collaborate with housekeeping, front desk, and other departments to maintain an exceptional guest experience.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and provide reports to hotel management.
