The position requires passing a Chief Engineer I examination, with a work schedule of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and an in-office telework arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operation, maintenance, and repair of the heating, air conditioning, and electrical plant and other mechanical and power equipment at the Veterans Home.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure reliable facility operations and safety compliance.
  • Complete the pre-employment examination and related screening as required.

Job description

$6,715.00 - $8,500.00 per Month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

This position is located in the Administration Department of the Veterans Home of Barstow. The Chief Engineer I is responsible to lead and work with others in operation, maintenance, and repair of the heating, air conditioning, and electrical plant and other mechanical and power equipment of the Veterans Home.

The applicant will need to take and pass an examination for Chief Engineer I to establish eligibility prior to the job offer.

Working Conditions

Employees of CalVet will be required to follow state or county public health guidelines and requirements enacted in accordance with infectious disease prevention and control.
