Job summary

Fermi America is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the engineering organization for Project Matador’s HyperGrid campus. You will set engineering standards, own design basis, and steer decisions across FEED, detailed design, construction support, and handover to operations.

You will manage a multi-disciplinary engineering organization, direct interfaces with EPC contractors and OEMs, champion safety-by-design, and ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, ANSI, and DOE requirements while delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering experience, with 7+ years in senior leadership.
• Deep expertise in combined-cycle gas turbine power plants and HV transmission.
• Experience managing EPC contractors, Owner's Engineer functions, and OEM interfaces.
• Texas PE license or ability to obtain reciprocal licensure.
• Experience with US power system codes (IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, NEC).

Responsibilities

• Define and own engineering strategy for Project Matador across disciplines.
• Lead the engineering organization structure, resource planning, and capability development.
• Champion a safety-by-design culture across all engineering deliverables.
• Review FEED and detailed engineering packages, specs, and vendor drawings.
• Manage EPC contractors, engineering partners, and OEM technical interfaces.
