Job summary

Fermi America is seeking the Head of Engineering to lead the technical authority for Project Matador. You will oversee the Engineering Management System, set design standards, and direct multi-technology engineering teams across gas, BESS, data center power, and future solar/nuclear integration.

You will supervise EPCs and OEMs, coordinate with regulators, and drive safety, quality, and delivery. This is a senior role based in Texas with a strong board-level impact.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or higher.
15+ years of progressive engineering experience in power/energy infra; 7+ years in senior leadership.
Deep expertise in CCGT, HV transmission/substations, BESS, data center power, and future solar/nuclear.

Responsibilities

Define and own the engineering strategy for Project Matador across multiple technologies.
Lead engineering standards, design basis, and verification for all disciplines.
Oversee FEED and detailed engineering packages from EPCs and OEMs; review vendor drawings.
Direct grid interconnection studies, protection coordination, and regulatory compliance.
Own the Engineering Management System, design reviews, MOC, and continuous improvement.
Liaise with regulators (NRC, PUC) and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
