Job summary

Hotel Equities is seeking a Chief Engineer for the Holiday Inn in Bismarck, ND. The role oversees the maintenance department, life-safety programs, and equipment operations across HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and more.

You will manage budgets, supervise staff, source and supervise contractors, and ensure compliance with safety and brand standards. The position requires strong leadership, hands-on maintenance expertise, and the ability to coordinate with management to deliver reliable guest

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with hotel maintenance and life-safety programs preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and associated equipment.
• Familiarity with brand standards (Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham, Hyatt).
• Strong communication, budgeting and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance staff and supervise daily activities.
• Monitor and control department budget and expenses.
• Schedule preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure reliability.
• Coordinate with General Manager and external contractors as needed.
• Maintain records of power, water and fuel consumption and report findings.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and life-safety requirements.
• Communicate condition of building and systems to leadership and propose cost-effective improvements.
