Job description

Are you passionate about solving complex problems? Join our dynamic team as a Chief Engineer for Gateway Lab Operations GRAIL and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Wireless Communications & Integration section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience. This position can be hired at any level within our professional career framework, depending on business needs.

International travel may be required. Benefits may include straight-time overtime, a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or one day of telework per week.

Duties & Responsibilities

Some of your major responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the GRAIL (Gateway Ready Avionics Integration Lab), a critical testing facility for the Gateway Program returning to the Moon.
  • Providing expertise on facility and emulator design fidelity.
  • Leading development and integration of high-fidelity avionic hardware and software in the lab.
  • Supporting engineering flight project schedules, procurement documentation, budgets, and system requirements.
  • Reviewing integrated analysis of the GRAIL system, hardware, and software in relation to Gateway Systems and operational environment.
  • Participating in system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, and critical design reviews.
  • Reviewing system architecture trade studies and analyses to inform facility design and performance decisions.
  • Identifying risks, developing risk statements, and planning mitigation strategies.
  • Presenting lab fidelity to customers and panels.
  • Performing other duties as required.
Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited school and at least five (5) years of related experience.
  • On-location work with situational telework options.
  • Experience in developing and integrating high-fidelity labs.
  • Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and power systems.

PREFERRED

  • Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with NASA projects.
  • Experience with avionics is a plus.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Ability to pass a U.S. government background check.
