Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead strategic and technical direction for the AEGIS program at NASA. You will guide enterprise IT modernization, manage a large engineering team, and coordinate with NASA and Leidos leadership to align with mission priorities.

The role spans data centers, cloud, networks, VoIP, cybersecurity, and collaboration services, with accountability for the technology roadmap, governance, and risk management to ensure reliable, secure mission support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience.
• At least 7 years of experience managing a large engineering team as part of an IT organization.
• Strong leadership abilities; detail-oriented; effective under deadlines.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Strong budgeting and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning.
• Demonstrated success building relationships with customers and teammates.
• Experience executing development programs in an agile environment.
• Experience developing Estimates to Complete/Estimates at Completion (ETC/EAC).
• Ability to effectively communicate when briefing Leidos and NASA senior leadership.
• Technical knowledge across one or more of the following technologies: Network Solutions, Data Center Technologies, Cloud-based Architectures, Collaboration Services.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering across all AEGIS technologies including data centers, cloud, networking, VoIP, cybersecurity, and collaboration services.
• Build strong relationships with senior NASA and Leidos leadership to ensure alignment with agency priorities.
• Continuously assess enterprise system baselines and recommend improvements to support modernization.
• Translate NASA OCIO and Office of Engineering objectives into actionable engineering priorities, plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
• Ensure daily engineering work remains aligned with long term organizational goals.
• Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team supporting networking, firewalls, VoIP, data centers, and cloud services across NASA.
• Foster a culture of innovation, learning, and technical excellence.
• Mentor engineers at all levels on career growth, skills, and technical decision making.
• Communicate clear expectations, provide timely feedback, and model strong leadership behaviors.
• Promote collaboration across engineering, architecture, security, operations, and program leadership.
