Job summary

Sigma Design seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering function for custom packaging and processing equipment in the Tri Cities, WA area. You will guide design from concept through commissioning, set priorities, and partner with leadership, sales, and manufacturing to deliver practical solutions.

The role requires 10+ years in mechanical engineering leadership, strong SolidWorks skills, and a PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience may be considered.
• 10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering and machine design experience with leadership of teams or projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
• Experience leading projects in a custom machinery/manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks; experience with AutoCAD and Navis preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide technical direction for engineering activities related to packaging and processing equipment.
• Establish engineering priorities and coordinate resources to support project requirements and schedules.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to engineering staff.
• Oversee mechanical design from concept through fabrication, assembly, and startup.
• Review and provide oversight of drawings, BOMs, and engineering documents.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, vendors, and customers to ensure manufacturability and alignment with requirements.
