Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a senior technical leader for the Air and Missile Defense Sector (AMDS) to drive strategic initiatives, advance defense technologies, and deliver high-quality capabilities for national security. You will partner with executive leadership to shape roadmaps and foster cross-organizational collaboration.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Engineering or related field.
Minimum 15 years of experience in advanced technology development for DoD major weapons systems.
Broad systems engineering skills with naval/joint A&M defense experience.
Experience influencing senior government sponsors and leaders.

Responsibilities

Define and lead initiatives advancing engineering tools, methodologies, laboratories, and computing resources for AMDS objectives.
Develop technology roadmaps and strategic technical investments in collaboration with senior leaders.
Identify external S&T partnerships and cultivate sponsored activities aligned with AMDS goals.
Oversee quality assurance practices in line with Laboratory requirements and participate in design reviews.
Mentor AMDS staff and foster career development for technical leaders.
