The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a senior technical leader for the Air and Missile Defense Sector (AMDS) to drive strategic initiatives, advance defense technologies, and deliver high-quality capabilities for national security. You will partner with executive leadership to shape roadmaps and foster cross-organizational collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in advanced technology development for DoD major weapons systems.
  • Broad systems engineering skills with naval/joint A&M defense experience.
  • Experience influencing senior government sponsors and leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead initiatives advancing engineering tools, methodologies, laboratories, and computing resources for AMDS objectives.
  • Develop technology roadmaps and strategic technical investments in collaboration with senior leaders.
  • Identify external S&T partnerships and cultivate sponsored activities aligned with AMDS goals.
  • Oversee quality assurance practices in line with Laboratory requirements and participate in design reviews.
  • Mentor AMDS staff and foster career development for technical leaders.
