Job summary

Moog Inc. in Buffalo, NY is seeking an Actuation Systems Chief Engineer to lead technical authority across actuation products and programs, ensuring product integrity and lifecycle support.

You will direct multidisciplinary teams, shape roadmaps, ensure engineering standards compliance, mentor engineers, and engage with customers and leadership to balance risk, cost, and performance for critical aerospace and defense programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, including leading design, development, qualification, and lifecycle support of complex aerospace, defense, actuation systems.
• Demonstrated experience as a technical authority for complex engineering products and programs.
• Deep understanding of actuation technologies, motion control, electromechanical, hydraulic, or related disciplines.
• Proven ability to lead large cross-functional engineering initiatives and influence decisions across organizations.
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering, requirements management, risk assessment, verification, validation, and configuration management processes.
• Experience reviewing and approving critical engineering deliverables, baselines, and qualification activities.
• Ability to evaluate trade-offs involving cost, schedule, performance, manufacturability, and customer requirements.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with customers, leadership, and engineering teams.
• Mentor engineers and develop technical talent.
• Experience in regulated aerospace/defense environment.
• U.S. Citizenship may be required for government contracts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for actuation system products and programs across the full product lifecycle.
• Accountable for product integrity from development to aftermarket support.
• Lead the technical execution of complex aerospace and defense programs with multidisciplinary teams.
• Shape technology strategy and roadmaps for Business Unit.
• Establish and maintain technical standards for performance, reliability, safety, manufacturability and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with Moog processes, policies, and industry standards.
• Own and approve technical content and quality of development and qualification artifacts.
• Mentor engineers and technical leaders to foster accountability and collaboration.
• Balance technical risk with customer commitments, cost objectives, and business priorities.
