Job summary

TPG Hotels and Resorts is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance and operation of all hotel building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC. You will lead a maintenance team, manage budgets, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires extensive knowledge of building systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to coordinate renovations with architects and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, codes, and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Budgeting and cost control expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute a preventive maintenance program for all hotel systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural elements.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and prioritize repairs.
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are completed promptly and efficiently.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of maintenance staff.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to maintenance personnel.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members.
  • Help in the development of and manage the maintenance department's budget.
  • Control costs by optimizing maintenance processes and negotiating contracts with vendors.
  • Ensure hotel compliance with safety codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Oversee regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Implement emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate and oversee renovation projects within the hotel.
  • Record-keeping of maintenance activities, inspections, manuals, and warranties.
  • Generate reports on maintenance and repair expenses for management.
  • Resolve maintenance issues reported by guests promptly and effectively.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, codes, and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Budgeting and cost control expertise.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when needed
Working Conditions & Physical Effort

Physical work is a primary part of many of our hotel and resort jobs. Physical requirements include extended standing and walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting to 50 lbs. Some work is performed in an interior hotel environment with equipment and machines.
