Job summary

Loews Arlington Hotel in Arlington, VA seeks a hands-on Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering team and keep the property operating at its best. You’ll oversee preventive maintenance, staffing, and reporting to safeguard assets and deliver an exceptional guest experience.

You’ll guide equipment and systems, champion safety, and collaborate with department heads to resolve guest concerns. This is a senior role requiring strong leadership and technical expertise in hotel facilities.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Chief or Chief Engineer in a hotel or hospitality environment with hands-on leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, life safety systems, and energy management operations.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural and blue-line drawings for project execution and maintenance planning.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, equipment operations, and maintenance protocols, with effective record-keeping.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills with focus on organizational effectiveness and clear communication.
  • Experience with computer-based management systems that streamline operations and track performance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift/pull/push 50+ pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain optimal staffing levels and oversee daily workflows to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assign tasks, review work orders, and conduct inspections to uphold quality standards.
  • Collaborate with department heads to resolve maintenance-related guest concerns promptly.
  • Drive preventive maintenance programs to protect property assets.
  • Support engineers in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues and provide guidance.
  • Coordinate training initiatives to enhance team skills and performance.
  • Supervise daily operations, ensuring safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Manage inventory for storeroom and maintenance supplies with accurate records.
  • Attend hotel meetings to stay aligned with property activities and priorities.
  • Assist the Director of Engineering with energy monitoring and supply management.
  • Oversee administrative functions including payroll, attendance, corrective actions, and reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to key control, tool control, and security protocols.

  • Oversee administrative functions, including payroll processing, attendance tracking, corrective actions, and performance reviews

  • Ensure adherence to key control, tool control, and security protocols in partnership with relevant teams

  • Regular attendance in conformance with standards

  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs

  • Required to attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications Include :
