Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the on-site engineering team at our San Antonio facility. You will oversee maintenance of infrastructure and production equipment, drive preventive and corrective actions, and manage budgets and contractors to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role requires 7+ years in a chief engineer or similar role, EPA certification, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related experience in chief engineer or similar role.
• Demonstrated people management experience.
• Universal CFC EPA certification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and use ladders up to 30 feet tall.
• Physical capability for frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering team, including hiring, training, coaching, and supporting ongoing personal development
• Oversee maintenance tasks for facility infrastructure and production equipment, diagnosing and resolving mechanical and pneumatic issues
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance procedures
• Manage the engineering budget and contribute to the overall operating budget process, including capital improvement planning
• Select, schedule, and supervise contractors, monitoring their performance against standards
• Respond effectively to emergencies and service calls as they arise
• Lead technical, safety, and operational process training programs, while engaging in client‑facing and property team communications

What this job involves

The Chief Engineer is a crucial on-site leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and responsible operation of all infrastructure systems and equipment supporting manufacturing processes. This position combines hands‑on technical expertise with strong people management skills, leading the engineering team while maintaining facility operations and driving continuous improvement. As the on‑site authority for engineering operations, this role directly supports JLL's commitment to operational excellence and client satisfaction, serving as a key point of contact between the property team, clients, and facility staff.

What your day‑to‑day will look like

• Lead and manage the engineering team, including hiring, training, coaching, and supporting ongoing personal development

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated people management experience, including leading a team

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and use ladders up to 30 feet tall
• Physical capability for frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Trade school education, union training, military service, or a college degree
• Experience in industrial maintenance or manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and water treatment
• Familiarity with energy management and sustainability practices
• Project management skills
