Role Description

The Chief Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Melbourne Beach Oceanfront in Melbourne Beach, FL. This role oversees all property maintenance and engineering operations, including the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include scheduling and supervising maintenance staff, performing inspections of guest rooms and public areas, prioritizing and completing work orders, and coordinating preventive maintenance programs to ensure the hotel remains safe, efficient, and well-presented. The Chief Engineer collaborates with hotel leadership to plan capital improvement projects, manage vendor relationships, and maintain compliance with brand, local, and state regulations. The role also involves responding to urgent maintenance issues, monitoring energy usage, controlling maintenance-related expenses, and supporting an excellent guest experience through timely and professional service.

• Leadership abilities to supervise, train, and schedule engineering and maintenance team members, with a focus on collaboration and safety.
• Capability to manage vendors, contractors, and service providers, including sourcing, negotiating, and overseeing project work.
• Solid organizational and time-management skills to prioritize multiple work orders, projects, and inspections in a dynamic hotel environment.
• Basic proficiency with maintenance management systems, Microsoft Office or similar tools, and documentation of work orders and inspections.
• Ability to communicate clearly with team members, hotel leadership, and guests, and to provide courteous, solution-focused service.
• Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks, including lifting, climbing ladders, working in various indoor/outdoor conditions, and standing for extended periods.
