The Engineer I will design and support natural gas distribution system projects including transportation improvements, system renewals, relocations, and new business installations. This role involves engineering design, project management, field operations support, and construction activities while ensuring compliance with company standards and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare engineering designs for transportation, pressure improvement, system renewal, relocation, and new business projects.
- Design and size meter and regulator sets, including overpressure protection systems.
- Collect, review, and evaluate engineering records for uprating procedures.
- Develop design alternatives and recommendations to improve distribution system performance and reliability.
- Create work order designs by drafting engineering plans and drawings, investigating land rights and easement requirements, and applying company specifications and standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal codes and regulations.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, tracking permitting, approval status, construction status, timelines, and milestones.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, field personnel, and construction teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide engineering support to field operations and construction teams as needed.
- Participate in site visits and construction inspections to support project implementation.
Required Skills & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in civil engineering, utility design, or a related engineering field.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Knowledge of utility distribution systems and engineering design practices.
Special Considerations
- Must demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and availability to support project needs.
- Travel to project sites and construction locations may be required Monday through Friday based on business needs.
Scheduling
- Hybrid work schedule: Monday through Thursday in-office work required; Friday remote work permitted.
