Dexterra Group is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee the operations and maintenance of building systems at a Des Moines, Iowa site. The role requires supervising O&M staff and ensuring mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate reliably while coordinating technicians.

You will be onsite full time and on-call to handle emergencies, with a focus on preventive maintenance and operational excellence. The position emphasizes safety, compliance, and efficient facility performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience supervising building operations and maintenance for a facility of at least 500,000 sq ft.
• Must hold one or more: NATE HVAC Service Technician, HVAC Excellence Professional Level, or UA Star Mastery.
• Minimum 16 hours of continuing education per year from NATE, HVAC Excellence, or UA Star provider.

Responsibilities

• Supervise onsite O&M staff as first-line supervisor.
• Oversee building systems including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, and supervise technicians.
• Perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment in good condition and reduce downtime.

Chief Engineer responsible for all working matters under the operations and maintenance of building systems at CMI’s customer site in Des Moines, Iowa.

Key Job Functions

• Act as the onsite first-line Supervisor to O&M staff
• Responsible for the building’s systems including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and supervision of technicians.
• Performs Preventive Maintenance tasks involving keeping equipment in good working order to reduce downtime and prevent breakdowns.
• Shall be onsite in a full-time capacity and on-call to respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Experience in supervising and directing building operations and maintenance of equipment for a singular federal facility of at least 500,000 square feet.
• Shall possess one or more of the following certifications:
  • North American Technician Excellence (NATE) HVAC Service Technician Certification
  • HVAC Excellence Professional Level Certification
  • UA Star HVAC Mastery Certification
• Must maintain a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education per year from either NATE, HVAC Excellence, or UA Star recognized provider program.
