The Chief Maintenance Engineer is responsible for overseeing full maintenance responsibilities for an off-campus medical office building. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, all general repairs and preventative maintenance of building systems, knowledge of various HVAC systems, steam and condensing boilers, utility savings efforts, lighting, and fire/life safety systems, as well as ensuring optimal client/tenant satisfaction. Additionally, this role will manage and maintain policies, procedures, standards and reporting related to all maintenance functions, including staffing, budgeting, contracts, and recommendations for capital expenditures. This role plays a key part in maintaining the reliability and performance of our buildings, creating safe, functional environments for tenants, clients, employees, and patients.
High School Diploma or GED required; successful completion of a two-year college/technical school preferred. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. 7 to 10 years of related work experience and technical training, preferably in healthcare, commercial real estate, or hospital environments. Maryland 2nd Grade Stationary Engineer license required; 1st Grade Stationary Engineer strongly preferred. CFC handling certification preferred. Must be located in Baltimore, MD area with availability for after-hours emergencies and participation in on-call rotation. Must be in office (onsite) 5 days a week. Basic aptitude for mathematics and ability to assist in maintenance budget preparation. Ability to lift and move 100-pound objects by applying proper body mechanics. Ability to read/understand blueprints, CAD experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in oversight of energy savings efforts and initiatives. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $157,000 annually. This range reflects a good‑faith estimate of the base salary Ventas reasonably expects to pay at the time of posting. Actual base pay will be determined based on work location, skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and business needs. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and other wellness benefits under applicable plan terms.
