Chief Electrical Estimator Opportunity

An experienced Chief Electrical Estimator is sought for the Raleigh, NC market. This senior estimating role is focused on complex commercial, industrial, mission-critical, data center, institutional, and other large-scale electrical construction projects. The position is responsible for leading major estimates, developing competitive pricing, evaluating risk, coordinating estimating teams, reviewing bid strategy, and supporting profitable project pursuits from early preconstruction through final proposal.

Experience

3+ years of chief-level electrical estimating experience is preferred, along with extensive overall electrical estimating or preconstruction experience. Candidates should have a strong background estimating large commercial, industrial, mission-critical, data center, and other complex electrical projects. Experience leading estimating teams, managing multiple deadlines, reviewing major bids, and working with design-build or fast-track projects is highly valuable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of accurate and competitive electrical estimates for large commercial, industrial, mission-critical, data center, institutional, and complex construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, bid documents, schedules, and contract requirements to determine complete electrical scope.
• Develop detailed labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and vendor pricing for electrical systems and project requirements.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations for scope coverage, compliance, competitiveness, and risk.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to improve estimate accuracy and project strategy.
• Lead bid reviews, estimate reconciliation, pricing strategy, scope discussions, and final proposal preparation.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, exclusions, assumptions, schedule impacts, and project risks.
• Develop and evaluate value-engineering options that improve cost, constructability, and project competitiveness without sacrificing quality.
• Support conceptual estimating, design-build, design-assist, negotiated work, fast-track pursuits, and competitive hard bids.
• Maintain current knowledge of electrical construction methods, labor productivity, material pricing, codes, market conditions, and estimating best practices.
• Use electrical estimating software, including Accubid or comparable platforms, to develop detailed estimates and proposals.
• Lead, review, mentor, and support estimators while helping establish consistent estimating standards and procedures.
• Support project turnover after award so operations teams understand scope, assumptions, pricing, risk, and key procurement requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience performing at a Chief Electrical Estimator level or in a comparable senior estimating leadership role.
• Extensive electrical estimating and preconstruction experience on large and complex electrical construction projects.
• Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code, electrical systems, construction methods, labor requirements, and estimating principles.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings, specifications, schematics, bid documents, and contract requirements.
• Strong knowledge of labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, vendor, indirect, and project risk pricing.
• Proficiency with Accubid Anywhere, Accubid, Trimble estimating products, or comparable electrical estimating software.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an estimating team, review major estimates, manage deadlines, and coordinate multiple pursuits.
• Experience with high-voltage systems, switchgear, emergency and backup power systems, and mission-critical electrical infrastructure is preferred.
• Design-build, design-assist, and fast-track project experience is preferred.
• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
• Professional Engineer licensure or comparable advanced credentials are valuable where applicable to the role.
