Job summary

Firefly Aerospace seeks a Chief Engineer - Electrical Engineering to provide technical leadership for the design, development, integration, and verification of spaceborne electrical and avionics systems. You will serve as the technical authority for spacecraft electrical architectures across multiple space programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related field.
  • 15+ years in electrical/avionics engineering for aerospace systems with leadership.
  • Technical authority on flight hardware programs, owning architecture and design integrity.
  • Depth in spacecraft/launch power systems, data handling buses, and harnessing.
  • Experience with EEE parts selection, derating, and radiation effects.
  • Experience guiding multi-disciplinary teams through trade studies and reviews.
  • Proven ability to take designs from concept to flight-qualified hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Own the electrical/avionics baseline and architectural direction across hardware, firmware, and harnessing.
  • Define spacecraft and launch vehicle electrical architectures, power, data handling, and interfaces.
  • Lead design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR) and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with space environmental requirements and qualification processes.
  • Guide integration and test strategies, including hardware-in-the-loop and TVAC.
  • Mentor engineers and promote rigorous engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Mechanical, Software, RF, and Mission Assurance teams.
