Job summary

Firefly Aerospace in Texas is seeking a Senior Manager of Spacecraft Avionics to lead the avionics engineering organization across multiple programs, including the Blue Ghost lunar lander and SUV projects.

You will set technical direction, drive system-level design choices, own the integration and launch schedule, and mentor senior engineers to ensure rapid, rigorous, and high-quality avionics execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8+ years in aerospace component development, avionics, testing, integration, or operations.
• 4+ years leading engineering teams with cross-functional interfaces.
• Proven ability to drive system-level decisions and prioritize across programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the spacecraft avionics engineering organization across multiple programs.
• Set technical strategy and ensure consistent avionics architectures across vehicles.
• Guide high-level functional design, system trades, and avionics development.
• Own the integration, test, and launch operations timeline for avionics.
• Develop and enforce procedures to maximize team efficiency and quality.
• Mentor, coach, and develop direct reports; manage performance and career growth.
• Collaborate with peer managers across systems, propulsion, software, and ops.
• Represent avionics in program and company reviews; advocate for decisions and resources.
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes and verification approaches.
