McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking a Vice President of Education to lead the educational strategy and impact across the organization. This on-site, full-time role manages four department leaders and builds strategic relationships with schools, higher education, industry, and community partners to connect science experiences with student achievement and future workforce pathways.

The VP will blend executive vision with accountability for measurable educational and operational

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, science communication, museum studies, nonprofit management, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in education, museum or informal learning, nonprofit organizations, or related field; includes 3+ years of management/leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead Education Division strategies; establish measurable objectives and communicate progress to the President & CEO.
• Cultivate relationships with superintendents, school districts, state agencies, higher education, industry, and community partners to advance priorities.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, and financial performance of the Education Division.
• Directly supervise education department leaders; coach, evaluate performance, and support professional development.
• Drive travel to schools and meetings; represent the Center at educational and community events.
