Job summary

Saint Louis Science Center seeks a Vice President of Science and Education to provide strategic leadership for science, education, galleries, and the Planetarium. You will collaborate with the President & CEO to shape the mission, oversee learning experiences, curricular development, and community partnerships.

The role requires 8–10 years of leadership in science or education, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to accessibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years of leadership experience in science, education, museums, or related field.
• Experience in a science center, museum, or cultural institution strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of informal science learning, museum education, exhibit development, and engaging diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to translate vision into innovative programs and exhibits.
• Proven success building partnerships with schools, universities, STEM industries, funders, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Advance the Science Center’s strategic direction for science, education, galleries, and learning experiences.
• Provide leadership for galleries, exhibits, educational content, collections, and the Planetarium.
• Develop engaging, inclusive science experiences for diverse and multigenerational audiences.
• Guide educational philosophy, learning frameworks, curriculum, interpretation, and exhibit development.
• Lead the comprehensive framework initiatives and translate vision into compelling exhibits and programs.
• Build and strengthen partnerships with schools, universities, scientists, STEM industries, and community organizations.
• Ensure scientific integrity, educational quality, accessibility, and impact through evaluation and feedback.
• Collaborate with Brand, Guest Experience, and Advancement to integrate education with guest experience and fundraising.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, staffing, and resources with strong stewardship.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a talented team while fostering an inclusive, high-trust culture.
• Represent the Center with community partners and stay current with developments in science and education.
