Job summary

Waterfront Alliance in New York, NY is seeking a Vice President of Development to lead a comprehensive $3.5M+ fundraising program across individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundations and government grants, events, and special initiatives.

The role reports to the President and CEO, collaborates with program, communications, and events teams, and drives annual revenue growth in a hybrid, two‑day‑in‑office setting in downtown Manhattan.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive nonprofit development experience.
• Experience as frontline fundraiser.
• Familiarity with NYC public space, environmental organizations, and philanthropy preferred.
• Ability to pair strategic planning with hands-on implementation.
• Strong project management and collaboration across functions.
• Excellent donor messaging and proposal writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive annual and multi-year fundraising plan.
• Set and manage goals and projections for fundraising revenue sources.
• Create revenue forecasts and development reports for decision-making and board reporting.
• Partner with the President and CEO on top donor relationships and strategy.
• Lead donor cultivation events and coordination with events teams.
• Oversee grants management, reporting, and restricted grants tracking.
