Job summary

The New York Academy of Sciences is seeking a Vice President, Development to lead the Academy’s fundraising strategy and relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders in New York. You will drive major gifts, sponsorships, and multi-year funding while coordinating across scientific programs, education, conferences, and public engagement.

You will build a high-performing development team, report to the President & CEO, and ensure fundraising initiatives align with organizational priorities

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressively senior advancement or fundraising leadership experience.
• Proven success securing major and principal gifts and forging corporate partnerships.
• Experience leading development programs at complex nonprofit, higher education, research, or science-based organizations.
• Proven ability to build and manage high-performing development teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute the Academy’s comprehensive philanthropic strategy to achieve revenue goals.
• Expand and strengthen corporate, foundation, and institutional partnerships.
• Cultivate and solicit high-level donors and strategic partners.
• Oversee fundraising infrastructure, reporting, and donor databases.
