Job summary

Providence House seeks a strategic Chief Development Officer to join the senior leadership and design a comprehensive fundraising plan, diversifying funding and growing unrestricted private giving.

The CDO will build development infrastructure, lead a capital campaign with a $2 million goal over two years for the Lexington Project, manage a 100–150 major gifts pipeline, and mentor a high‑performing team across Brooklyn, New York City, and Long Island.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a development department and managing donor relations, gifts, grants, and events.
• Proven track record of building major-gift pipelines and raising multi-million dollars annually.
• Ability to conceptualize and communicate funding needs in a compelling way.
• Experience planning and executing capital campaigns is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead Providence House’s development infrastructure, including moves management, stewardship, and pipeline management.
• Set and lead the overall fundraising strategy, aligning with operating needs and strategic goals.
• Create annual fundraising plans, a development calendar, and build a major gifts program.
• Partner with the CEO to shape and execute a capital campaign strategy to raise $2 million.
• Oversee daily development office operations, donor communications, and data management.
• Develop and manage the development department budget.
• Identify and cultivate individual and major gift opportunities across Brooklyn, NYC, and Long Island.
• Coordinate foundation and government grants and oversee major fundraising events.
• Lead and mentor the development team to foster collaboration and accountability.
• Collaborate with the CEO and board to maximize fundraising outreach.
