Job summary

NextUp RVA is seeking a Vice President of Development to lead all fundraising activities and expand major gifts, government grants, and events to grow a $4 million budget. This executive will build donor relationships, work with the board, and develop strategic plans to secure significant funding from individuals and foundations.

The role requires a seasoned fundraising professional, exceptional communications skills, and a collaborative leadership style.

Qualifications

• Education: bachelor’s degree; CFRE preferred.
• Minimum 10 years fundraising experience; proven record of soliciting and closing major gifts.
• Experience planning and leading development projects and coordinating with CEO/board.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes a comprehensive fundraising plan across major gifts, government grants, events, and corporate/foundation support.
• Manages a 75+ prospect portfolio and drives moves management for gifts of $5,000+.
• Collaborates with CEO, board, and communications to grow donor pipeline and institutional funding.
• Drafts proposals and presentations for major donors and private foundations.
• Oversees development operations, grant calendars, and donor communications.
