Job summary

Children’s Mercy KC is seeking a Vice President, Chief Development Officer to lead the multifaceted fundraising program. You will drive a data-informed, multi-channel philanthropy strategy to secure transformational support for patient care, research, and clinical programs.

The role requires executive leadership experience, a track record of securing seven- to eight-figure gifts, and the ability to build strong relationships with donors, foundations, and board members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, Marketing or related field and 12+ years in philanthropy or related field.
• Master’s Degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, Marketing or related field and 10+ years in philanthropy or related field.
• Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts, including $10M+ gifts.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic vision for philanthropy aligned with mission and long-term goals.
• Lead donor engagement strategies across the full lifecycle to maximize philanthropic investment.
• Oversee philanthropy operations, ensuring performance metrics and stewardship of resources.
• Build and sustain high-performing fundraising teams and executive relationships.
