California Youth Connection seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead fundraising strategy and secure financial stability for the organization.

You will supervise a small development team, build donor pipelines, and partner with youth leaders across California to advance advocacy and foster care initiatives. This role requires strong writing, storytelling, and collaboration with staff, volunteers, and the Board.

Job description

The Chief Development Officer will be responsible for strategizing and coordinating efforts to reach both the financial and organizational growth objectives while ensuring the financial stability of CYC. The Chief Development Officer customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in leading the development team and daily operations and works in collaboration with members, staff, volunteers, Board members, and youth leaders across the state to build and lead multi-year development plans. As a skilled narrator, strong writer, and people person, the Chief Development Officer will motivate supporters to advance CYC’s work at the intersection of youth leadership and advocacy in foster care and intersecting systems. The position is responsible for meeting fundraising goals and building new donor pipelines, motivating and leading staff across the organization to engage in fundraising efforts, increasing the capacity of fundraising operations, and contributing to strategic conversations about growth. The Chief Development Officer customarily and regularly supervises and directs the work of two or more full-time employees.
