Job summary

San José State University seeks an Executive Director of Development to lead major gifts, capital campaigns, and events in collaboration with the AVP for Development. You will manage a team, drive fundraising priorities, and cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, and community partners.

The role requires a track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts, ethical leadership and strong strategic vision to advance the university's priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Seven years of professional development and/or fundraising experience, cultivating and soliciting a donor portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the directors of development for colleges and units and sets funding priorities for the fiscal year.
• Meets with directors regularly to provide leadership and guidance and to ensure goals are met.
• Evaluates the performance of direct reports annually.
• Coordinates with the prospect management system to coordinate fundraising activities.
• Engages in university fundraising activities on- and off-campus with prospects and donors.
• Develops, implements and evaluates development plans aligned with institutional priorities.
• Collaborates with Annual Giving, Planned Giving and Corporate & Foundation Relations.
